An evocative literary gathering was held at Chai Shai Restaurant in Ajman to commemorate the legacy of the celebrated Urdu poet Nasir Kazmi. The event was thoughtfully organized by Dr. Noor Al Sabah, bringing together prominent members of the literary community, poetry enthusiasts, and distinguished guests.

The Consul General of Pakistan in Dubai, Hussain Muhammad, attended as the chief guest, adding prestige to the occasion. Among the notable attendees were Mujtaba Kazmi, Chaudhry Khalid Hussain, Haji Muhammad Yaseen, Sohail Khawar, Sajjad Akbar Khan, Khawar Hussain, Iftikhar Hamdani, Dr. Zafar Tahir, Sabahat Asim Wasti, Faraz Siddiqui, and Arbab Jahangir Edhi, along with a large number of literature lovers.

The event was presided over by Dr. Sabahat Wasti, while the hosting duties were gracefully carried out by Aisha Sheikh Ashi, who conducted the proceedings with eloquence and poise.
In her address, Dr. Noor Al Sabah highlighted the poetic brilliance of Nasir Kazmi, describing him as one of the most influential figures in modern Urdu poetry. She noted that his soft, melancholic tone and emotionally rich ghazals beautifully captured themes of loneliness, nostalgia, migration, love, and silent suffering. She also reflected on how the partition of 1947 and his subsequent migration to Lahore deeply influenced his poetic voice, lending it a unique emotional depth. His ability to blend classical influences with modern sensibilities has often drawn comparisons with Mir Taqi Mir.

The evening featured soulful renditions of Nasir Kazmi’s poetry, presented with musical accompaniment, which deeply resonated with the audience. Renowned singers Sardar Faraz and Ali Rao captivated attendees with their performances.
A distinguished lineup of poets, including Megi Asnani, Abrar Umer, Ghizala Rizvi, Ahmad Raza, Syed Sarosh, and Muskan Syed Riaz, also presented their work, earning appreciation and applause from the audience.

At the conclusion of the event, Consul General Hussain Muhammad distributed honorary shields and awards among the participants, recognizing their contributions to the literary evening. Guests expressed their gratitude to Dr. Noor Al Sabah for organizing such a meaningful event and voiced hope for more gatherings that celebrate literature and cultural heritage in the future.
The tribute served as a heartfelt reminder of Nasir Kazmi’s enduring influence on Urdu literature and his timeless appeal among poetry lovers across generations.
