Grand Iftar Held at Pakistan Social Centre Sharjah; Rs 2 Million Support for Martyrs’ Families

Sharjah: A grand Community Iftar was hosted by the Pakistan Social Centre Sharjah during the holy month of Ramadan, bringing together a large number of prominent members of the Pakistani community. The gathering was attended by scholars, writers, social figures, political personalities, and business leaders, reflecting the unity and vibrant presence of the community in the UAE.
Consular officers from the Consulate General of Pakistan in Dubai also attended the event, underscoring its significance and highlighting the strong engagement between the diplomatic mission and the Pakistani community residing in the United Arab Emirates. The occasion served as an important platform for community members to connect, share goodwill, and celebrate the spirit of togetherness during the blessed month.

The highlight of the evening was an important announcement by the President of the Pakistan Social Centre Sharjah, Chaudhry Khalid Hussain, who pledged financial assistance of Rs 1 million each for the families of two Pakistanis, Mureeb Zaman and Muzaffar Ali, who were recently martyred in tragic incidents.
The announcement was warmly received by the attendees and widely appreciated as a meaningful gesture of solidarity and support for the bereaved families. The initiative was seen as a reflection of the community’s compassion and commitment to standing with those facing difficult times.

Chaudhry Khalid Hussain, President of the Pakistan Social Centre Sharjah, emphasized that supporting the families of martyrs and ensuring a secure future for their children is a collective responsibility of the community.
“We will continue to stand shoulder to shoulder with the families of the martyrs and remain committed to supporting their children so that their dreams and aspirations can be fulfilled,” he stated.
Participants at the gathering commended the initiative, noting that overseas Pakistanis have consistently demonstrated unity and compassion during challenging times. They remarked that such efforts further strengthen the spirit of solidarity and community among Pakistanis living abroad.

Addressing the gathering, Hussain Muhammad, Consul General of Pakistan, highlighted the vital role played by overseas Pakistanis in supporting the national economy. He noted that during the month of February, the Pakistani community sent remittances amounting to 696 million US dollars, making a significant contribution toward strengthening Pakistan’s economic stability.

He further remarked that even during challenging economic circumstances, Pakistanis living abroad continue to demonstrate remarkable dedication, responsibility, and patriotism toward their homeland.

“It is encouraging to see that the role of the Pakistani community has become increasingly important in the current circumstances, and their contributions are truly commendable,” he stated.

The Consul General also acknowledged the positive contributions of Pakistanis residing in the United Arab Emirates, noting that their hard work, professionalism, and integrity are enhancing Pakistan’s image internationally while also strengthening the longstanding and friendly relations between the UAE and Pakistan.

During the event, a special cake-cutting ceremony was held to celebrate the UAE ranking first globally in sending remittances to Pakistan. The moment was shared with pride by the attendees, who expressed appreciation for the continued commitment of overseas Pakistanis to their homeland.

Guests were served traditional Pakistani cuisine at Iftar, and the evening provided an opportunity for members of the community to interact, exchange greetings, and reflect on the spirit of Ramadan, unity, and collective responsibility. The event concluded in a warm and cordial atmosphere, reinforcing the strong bonds within the Pakistani community in the UAE.
